Sand Key Sprint Tri

Before I begin please let me say - Congratulations to all who raced at IM Louisville and IMWisconsin!! We are all so proud of all of you!!
This is where I will be in 2 weekends. Sand Key. Isn't that a beautiful view? Maybe you should join me...

Instead of finding me here on the sidelines taking pictures...

You'll have to look out here to find me.

That's right. I'll be volunteering on September 23 at the Sand Key Tri. ExcelMan is racing and I'll be part of the support crew along with my friend,( ExcelMan's wife) Green Eyed Lady. We'll be in kayaks beating athletes over the head if they try to hold on to our rigs for support! How fun is that? Okay, just kidding about the beating over the head part(I would never...). I am really looking forward to it. This will be the first race I get up at 0'dark thirty for that Bigun isn't competing in. Bigun will be the Sherpa for this race! I am so psyched about being out there giving support to the athletes in a different style. Bigun will need to man the cowbells that morning.

That's our anniversary - we are racing in the same race we did last year, probably wearing a veil and bowtie again!

  5. That is so freaking cool that you are going to be the kyacks!!

Have you mastered an emergency roll yet? :)

And I agree with Tea, I thought for a sec you were going to say you were racing.

Have a wonderful time and enjoy the sun!

  6. Like Tea I thought you were announcing you were racing. Have a great time volunteering at the race. You can't put on a race without great workers.

  7. If you are beating the swimmers on the heads, how are we going to enjoy your great pictures?

It looks like a terrific place for a race and for floating around on the water as well.

  9. You know, watching the sun come up from Monona Terrace, the folks standing next to me and I were discussing how outstanding that would have been from the kayaks ...

  12. That is awesome that you are volunteering and cheering for excel man. You will have a blast. It looks beautiful. I wish I was rich so I could just cruise down there and hang out and race and then have no worries about getting back...but sadly I'm not so I can't :(

  13. Sorry about the "gotcha" I really didn't mean the post to have that feel. I was totally psyched about being part of the support crew that I didn't think the way an athlete would think, I was thinking in Sherpa-ese. lol
As for Bigun and his Sherpa skills, we'll find out soon if Ihave trained him well or not. My camera will be in his hands so I think I'll have to warn Bigun off pictures of Boobs and Butts ahead of time. (BigMike has met Bigun and thought he should give me a heads up on this possibility). Thanks for the heads up BigMike!

  14. let's see...that memory card holds about 250 some-odd photos...that makes 125 of pics I want to take (boobs and butts), and 125 of typical Di triathlon pics (great shots) - you asked for it...

  15. Gah! I also thought you were going to say you were racing. Volunteering is cool, too...especially on the swim. I'm always most grateful to the folks out on the water...you know, just in case I drown or whatever. :)

  16. Being a volunteer and a Sherpa is so fun - you will have a GREAT day but I promise you will find yourself from time to time wishing you were racing. It just happens.
